DataScan – The Early Days

Back in 1997 Paul Mason, a long standing employee of Datalogic decided to strike out on his own and set up DataScan Systems as a distributor of Datalogic products and services. As the company grew, it became apparent that DataScan’s knowledge of Auto-ID products and their ability to design bespoke solutions was paramount to the ongoing success of DataScan.

DataScan Today

Over the years DataScan Systems has evolved as a respected market leader of complete Auto-ID solutions, providing products, systems and advice on Barcode Systems, RFID Systems and bespoke software solutions.

DataScan and Handheld readers

Although many handheld barcode scanners and readers are simple to use, with so many models on the market it can be difficult to decide which scanner/reader would be best suited to the application. This is where DataScan can help, with over 25 years of experience and in depth technical knowledge on many handheld barcode scanners & readers on the market, DataScan are able to advise customers which make and model best suits their application and budget requirements.

DataScan and RFID

To many, RFID is a relatively new technology. However, DataScan engineers have over 15 years experience of RFID systems. As more and more companies adopt RFID technology, DataScan have responded to customer needs and offer RFID solutions using Low Frequency (LF), High Frequency (HF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF). In many cases, customers look to DataScan to advise which frequency is most suitable for their application as DataScan are a truly “frequency agnostic” company.

DataScan and Mobile Computers

Recently DataScan has seen an explosion in customer’s requests for Mobile Computers and ruggedised PDA’s. To meet this increase in demand, DataScan expanded its affiliations with world-class manufacturers to include JLT (CMC), Intermec and Psion Teklogix. The diversity of products allows DataScan to provide our customers with a wide choice of mobile computing solutions from leading manufacturers. DataScan also works closely with our customers to develop software for mobile computers, which ensures the solution developed meets the criteria set out by the customer.

At DataScan we believe in providing our customers with solutions. Our aim is to ensure that our customers are 100% satisfied and confident with using our proposed equipment prior to any commitment. We actively encourage pre-sales trials to pre-empt any queries or possible issues before a system goes live.

We ensure our service to our customers continues long after system implementation. Our team of dedicated service engineers continue to assist our customers with any queries and maintenance of the system for the life of the equipment.

In recognition of our commitment to customer service DataScan has been awarded the coveted  “Authorised Repair Centre” status by Datalogic. This status enables us to repair ALL Datalogic products.
